This is one of my favourite recipes as you can pretty much add whatever you have in to it, and it always comes out lovely.
It is called 'Hungarian chocolate cake' and comes from a Christmas Cookery booklet
I have made this many times, here are some of the different types of cake I have made with this recipe :
As you can see I have made it in a jelly mould, as a round cake and in a loaf. My most recent cake was made in a square tin then cut up
Here is the recipe :
On a side note, as biscuits have more sugar in nowadays I do not add in the icing sugar because it does not need it.
Recipe
Ingredients
1/2lb biscuits approx 225g
4oz icing sugar (optional)
10oz chocolate dark or milk
4oz Margarine
Method
Break up biscuits
Melt chocolate and margarine
Pour over the biscuits
Press into a loaf tin or mould
Leave to set
Turn out when set and decorate with melted chocolate or icing
This recipe is very adaptable so you can add in anything to the melted chocolate/biscuit mixture. Examples would be chocolates, truffles, dried fruit, mini marshmallow or glacé cherries.
Enjoy!
